Hi, I am a primary teacher in Scotland and currently I work with learners with severe and complex additional support needs in both the primary and secondary settings. I recognise the need for good quality resources, unfortunately these are not always available to suit the needs of my visual learners who require that extra support and those that I do find often need to be adapted to meet my learners needs. I hope that you find them as useful in your classrooms as I have found them in mine.

Cube Colour Pattern Flashcards

This is a great resource to put in pupil's individual TEACCH boxes or for independent tasks to consolidate matching, sequencing and following a pattern. The flashcards are clear and uncluttered for maximum pupil focus. They can be used with threading cubes to also promote and encourage fine motor skills.

Colour Match Board (word to colour)

(1)
This resources can be used for multiple purposes. Each board has 8 common colour dots (red, blue, purple, yellow, pink, green, orange & brown) that pupils match up the corresponding colour word to, for differentiation there are 2 sets of words one in matching colours and one in black text. I use this resource with pupils in their individual work trays and TEACCH boxes to encourage independent work. It consolidates word recognition with initial support from coloured text and can be used to reinforce colour recognition. I use it to introduce the Makaton signs.

Days of the Week Activity Pack

(1)
This 18 page pupil resource pack includes flashcards, display cards, word-search, overwriting worksheets and a sequencing and letter match activity board. The visuals that are used are from the popular PCS Boardmaker Symbols pack by Mayer-Johnson. Educators working with pupils with ASN will be familiar with these symbols as they are clear and consistent enabling easy recognition for pupils. Each worksheet is clear and uncluttered for focused learning, pupil can work independently on the matching activities or as a group. I have used this task as an introduction to sequencing the days of the week, I have the flashcards up on the wall as an interactive activity. I have laminated each of the worksheets for the pupils to complete in their morning boxes as part of their daily routine and also as consolidation homework tasks. This clearly laid out and visual addition board will support pupils who find the task of addition challenging. There is space under the addition sum for pupils to place/use concrete items. I have included number tiles for pupils who also find writing challenging. It is especially supportive to pupils with additional support needs.

This visual and ready to use pack contains the templates for 7 early years friendly graphs, each one 1-5 and 1-10. They include the visual symbols from Mayer Johnston Boarmaker Studio Software. Pupils can use them for consolidating their knowledge of graphs individually or as a whole class activity, they are all ready to be printed and used. 1-8 peg counting cards

(0)
These differentiated counting cards can be used in work boxes and independent numeracy centres to encourage and promote number sequencing skills and one to one counting skills. I use them with pupils with severe and complex learning needs as structured activity boxes using numbered pegs to match to the circles initially the ones with the corresponding numbers on them then moving onto the blank circles. There are also cards with alternating coloured circles to introduce the concept of odd and even numbers.
